John Lott of Citrus Co, FL was not dead until 1820 and he helped his son, the founder of Marion Co, MS in the application process for the branch off of the first county in MS, Hancock Co, to be Marion County. Definitely not disputed is the Joyner mother. That is what the SNPs show for half matches and a couple hundred participants over 10 years squaring up which half match goes to which maternal line. No source for the middle name of Aaron

About 1762 the family moved to St. Geroge Parish, Ga, which became BurkeCo, Ga. in 1777. In Effingham Co Ga. granted 100 acres 6 Sep 1784, 150acres 14 Mar 1791, 100 acres 6 Dec 1791, 200 acres 12 Feb 1793. Spanish West Florida land claims were made good by son John Lott III who founded Marion Co, MS.

“In my Lott History attached as a source, p. 5, noted researcher, John Barron, identified another child of John Lott (II), as Mary "Pollie" Lott born about 1775. John Lott's wife, Elizabeth Joyner, died "before" Nov. 6, 1764 as explained in my Lott History, p. 6. Could the mother of this "Pollie" be the "Bethany Lott" that appears with my John Lott (II) after his first wife dies? John Lott, II, would have married "Bethany" about 1770, probably on Georgia, based on Elizabeth Joyner Lott died sometime before 1764 and Mary Polly Lott was born about 1775.”

John Lott, who was born in Edgecombe, NC by 1725 moved his family to SC between 1770-1775, his son Thomas Lott was born in NC, and Moses was born in SC, which makes the time line between 1770 and 1775. Spouse: Elizabeth of Indian Woods which is due to the fact that John III fought under Pugh and Colbert who had the indenture apprenticeships on the Southern Tuscororans and is a part of the DAR study of John III's Rev War service.

Residences: Fairfield, SC; also GA; and land claims in Nuevo Espania , Hernando, Cortez Province, Spanish West FL. Died in 1808 Fairfield, Chester Co, SC, the Districts changed from Fairfield to Chester Co, due to the changing Wateree River.

Edgecombe, North Carolina Deed Book 1 page 13, provides clear evidence there where two adult John Lott's in Edgecombe County, 01 May 1754.

Seven British pounds for 400 acres on the north side of Toseot joining the creek, witness Thomas Dixon, John Lott, Jr., Edgecombe County May 1754. This could not be John Lott's son because he would have been only 9 years old and he could not have been the witness

=======

John Lott was born in 1700 wife Unknown. The information here is from our John Lott family who was born in 1745, and not from the Georgia Lott's.

It appears that the first of the name settled in Eastern Virginia, from which the family spread to several frontier counties. In 1782 John was in Fairfax County, Virginia and in 1785 another John in Albemarle County. Only emigration of a large number of the family to North Carolina, prior to the Revolution. From North Carolina the family moved Southward, and there is no Lott's in the 1790 census of North Carolina, there are six known recorded heads of family in South Carolina in 1790. George was in Fairfield, Sarah in Edgefield, Mark in Orangeburg, and Joshua, John and William in the Fork District.

With George in Fairfield were Jesse, Nancy and Aaron. Others appearing in Fairfield were Moses, another Nancy and a William. John received a Royal Land Grant November 05, 1791 on Turkey Creek, a branch of Rocky Creek, adjoining the lands of William, In Fairfield, South Carolina. John was in Fairfield, South Carolina on the 1800 Census. With the way the counties where named in 1780, 1790, 1800, you couldn't tell if it was Fairfield, Chester, or Richland Counties. Prior to 1800 they where divided by Districts, and even than each year the boundaries changed.

=======

Also in November 16, 1822 in Chester County, Elisha Lott who's will was probated mentions wife Agnes, and John the Administrator. With all the information we have found Elisha Lott was the son of Thomas Lott (son of John Lott). He was married to Agnes Sandifer, the daughter of daughter of Samuel Sandifer and Elizabeth Sandiford who second marriage was to George Lott. There were two books written about the Lott's, one is from Kathleen Corley Mason, who wrote about the Carroll County, Mississippi Lott's, and from Dewel Lott who wrote about George Lott, of South Carolina and his family history, and information on the Lott's in South Carolina. Dewel Lott gave the information to Kathleen Corley about when our John Lott died in Fairfield, South Carolina, 08 February 1808. His heirs where: Thomas, Aaron, and Moses Lott, John McWatters, Joshua Brown, Hugh Randolph, William Sandifer and Elizabeth Lott, his widow. The four men named above where husbands of John's daughters. John Lott must have died interstate as no will has been found, and do not have access to interstate records. All this information has been proven with documentation.

Some of our Lott families stayed in South Carolina. Moses Lott son of John Lott and Elizabeth, stayed in South Carolina, as did his sister Priscilla (Cilia) McWaters (McQuarters) the Browns where in Barnwell, Thomas died in South Carolina aft. 1808, because he was listed in John Lott's, probate of 1808. All records of Thomas Lott prove that he married Rebecca Dye, they had three children, John, Elisha, and Martha "Patsy" Sandifer Lott. Proof came from the family Bible of Elizabeth Dye who raised the Lott children and Elisha Dye's Will, were he mentions the three Lott children. Aaron Lott, Sr., he migrated to Carroll County, Mississippi, on the way to Mississippi, the family stopped in Pickens, Alabama, where some of Aaron's Grandchildren where born in, Alabama.

She has long been thought the only wife of John#2 and mother of his children. However, John#2 had no wife listed in the grants that he received in 1764 in St. George's Parish. "Rev Patriot John Lott 3 married Sallie Lightfoot in 1762 in N.C and they got land grants in GA before coming to MS" ~ ~ ~ Bapt Association of Florida Parishes written history.

Patriot under Fighting Southern Tuscororan Troop leaders Colbert and Pugh, John Lott 3 was the founder of Marion Co, MS On 07 Nov 1807, John Lott, Sr and his family immigrated westward to the Mississippi Territory (Mary Givens Bryan, Passports Issued by Governers of Georgia 1785 to 1820 (Washington, D.C.: National Genealogical Society, 1962), p 46, said a passport through Creek Nation be prepared for James Taylor, John Lott Senr., William Williams, and Samuel Newton with their families.). His son, John Lott, had already immigrated to the territory in 1805. John Lott II already owned land in the Florida Parishes.

Migration of Pioneer Families According to the "History of Marion County, Mississippi", Marion County Historical Society, pp. 6 & 7, Marion County Public Library, # 976.221: "Among the original routes used by the people coming into what is now Marion County, Mississippi, were the Indian Trails through the Creek (Indian) Nation. The State of Georgia had an agreement with the Creek Nation that white people would not encroach upon their land in the western part of Georgia and the eastern part of the Mississippi Territory that is now a part of the state of Alabama. Therefore, any persons traveling through the Indian lands were required to obtain a passport from the Governor of Georgia. Many settlers coming into the Mississipppi Territory from Georgia and the Carolinas used these routes through the Indian lands. Among the earliest pioneers who chose one of these routes was the Lott family from Tatnall County, Georgia, who came into the Mississippi Territory in the early 1800's. Family tradition says that as soon as the territory was opened to settlement John Lott, Jr., went to look over the new lands and the rest of the family began to move as soon as he could get back with a good report. John Lott Jr.'s, passport signed by the Governor of Georgia, was dated 6 December, 1805. Next came Jesse Lott, whose passport was dated 22 November, 1806. Then, on 7 November, 1807, John Lott, Sr. obtained his passport. On 9 January, 1809, Robert Lott, Amos Lott, Stephen Lott, along with other people, received a joint passport. On 2 April, 1809, Joshua Lott, "wife and five children", procured their passport."

Not long after the move into the Mississippi Territory, John Lott Sr made his will. His estate was probated in October and December 1808 in Washington County, Mississippi Territory.

Multi estate owner father with land from Bertie Co to Spanish West Florida Claims had this John Lott 3 early on, living on the Toisnot Swamp in what is now Wilson Co, NC. By 1790 they were living in Barnwell Co, SC. 14 May 1791 was granted land in Effingham Co, Ga. due to his bounty land grands from a very long military career and had made good on his fathers' Spanish West Florida claims and petitioned for the courthouse in Marion Co, MS. He also had multiple residences like his father. 1797-98 listed as taxpayer in Montgomery Co, Ga. 0n 13 Jan 1795 deeded 950 acres of land, 150 cattle, mare, household goods to his father in Screven Co., Ga. On 10 May 1805 deeded to his father in Tattnall Co, Ga. 350 acres of seamy lands, 550 acres of pine woods, all hogs and cows owned jointly, all household goods and 9 slaves.

Research Notes

The earliest record found of the Lott Family name was John Lott who patented land on Lott's Branch in 1740. Lott's Mill is the oldest known mill site in the present Wilson County, North Carolina. It was established by John Lott Sr. About 1744 and was operated by him until 1749. It is known that he owned land in Edgecombe County, North Carolina and also Duplin County, North Carolina. Records show John Lott Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth, sold land in Edgecombe County, North Carolina
The will of John Joyer of Virginia mentions his daughter Elizabeth Lott and a son Absolam. (it is felt that this is the wife of John Lott Sr. Since they named one of their sons Absolam). In the late 1770's John Lott,Sr. wife is listed as Bethany. This could have been his second wife or perhaps a derivative of the name Elizabeth. About 1762 the Lott Family moved to St. George Parish, Georgia, which became Burke County, Georgia in 1777. On Nov 6, 1764 John Lott Sr. petitioned for a grant of 200 acres in St. Georges Parish, Georgia adjoining his son, John Lott Jr. , having at that time a wife and seven children.
When Burke County, Georgia was overrun by Tories during the revolutionary war, the Lotts went to South Carolina, "furnishing supplies and also rendering military service to the militia". After the war, John Lott,Sr. returned to Georgia and settled in Effingham County where he was granted 100 acres on September 6, 1784. Other grants consisted of 150 acres on March 14, 1791, 100 acres on Dec. 6, 1791 and 200 acres on Feb. 12, 1793.
John Lott, Sr. And his wife Elizabeth (Or Bethany) were said to have a total of ten children.
