John Love was the fourth of ten born to Joseph and Mary Love of Augusta County, Virginia.
John married Sarah Calhoun sometime around 1785. John and Sarah moved their family several times, first to Guilford County, North Carolina (1790 Census) and then Caswell County, North Carolina (1800 Census) and then back again to Guilford before 1802.
In 1806, John and Sarah made their last move, to Ross County, Ohio, where John died two years later. All eight of John's children were minors at the time of his death.
