About Captain John Lyon, Sr

John Lyon was a United Empire Loyalist during the American Revolutionary War.

Captain – Queen's Rangers (1st American Regiment) 1775-1777. Commissioned a Captain by Colonel Robert Rogers. He recruited 22 Loyalists from Redding.

Captain – General Browne's Prince of Wales American Volunteers 1777-1783. Carried his Captain's commission from the Queen's Rangers and performed duties as a Scout during the Raid on Danbury. Participated in other campaigns against the Rebels.

His farm in Redding was confiscated in October 1778 by the Rebel Court.

Served in the New Brunswick Militia.
