Ian 'Mor' Macleod, 16th of MacLeod was the son of Sir Roderick Macleod, 15th of MacLeod and Isabella Macdonald.2 He married Sybella Mackenzie, daughter of Kenneth Mackenzie, 1st Lord Mackenzie of Kintail and Jean Anne Ross.2 He died in September 1649.2
He was educated at Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.2 He held the position of 16th Chief of the Clan Macleod from.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1635 and 1641.2
