7/30 According to Starr he had five wives, but no idea where that information came from other than someone told Starr..He's with his parents on the Drenna Roll and then with Jane/Jennie on all the 1880's rolls and with Margaret in 1890.

According to the Eastern Apps of Emma Cunningham Vann, App #5124, granddaughter of John's brother James and Maria Crane, (app #155) daughter of John's sister Ruth, John had no children (or at least none that lived long enough to be on a census.

Looks like someone has attached the children of a John McCoy in Illinois to the Cherokee John:

Yes, there was an Illinois District in the Cherokee Nation, but John McCoy didn't live there. He lived in Tahlequah and then Cooweescoowee District.. This is a case of a totally unrelated set of children attached who had a father who had the same name, but nothing else in common, with the Cherokee man. kfp
