Silver 6198 Holladay Blvd. Salt Lake City, 84121 of Cottownwood Stake, claims to be a relative when filled in forms. Also on this sheet with John's brother is Janet Mc Leigh b. 29 Jun. 1852 d/o John and Isabella (Lindsay) Mc Leigh fathers place of residence is Jamestown; ref. was Pt. 196 par reg Bonhill 14505." NOTE: - But when I wrote her she claimed no relation to them and no knowledge of these people! - - Gwen S. Legler 4115 234th St. Ne Arlington, Wa. 98223 writes: Virginia died Nov. 1993. My mother found the Scottish records difficult to research for proving direct lineage, as they were often incomplete. Whenever she she could prove that an individual was a direct ancestor, she would then submit all individuals with the same surname without having to prove it they were a direct ancestor or not. If you find the notation, "rel," on the sheet, then it means that no direct link was found and they just had the same surname as one of our direct ancestors.
