John Mills Jr. comes from a family who's ancestors have been erroneously reported for many years.

His mother was Rebecca Mills, the first wife of John Mills Sr., She died prior to 1740. Her maiden name has never been reported in a reputable source.

The Hopewell removal dates of John Sr. and John Jr. are uncertain as Jr. and Sr. were not used on the removal certificates. Many Speculate that John Jr. removed in 1752 and John Sr. removed in 1753 with his three sons because of being 66 years old. Then other's think John Jr would not have traveled in 1752 because his wife would have been in her 3rd through 5th month of pregnancy with son Joseph. The right answer is we do not know which John traveled first.

1752, 6, 1. John Mills. was granted a certificate from Hopewell MM,(Opeckan), Frederick Co., VA. Near Winchester VA today. 1752, 8, 1. John Mills. was received by Cane Creek MM, Orange Co. NC. Alamance Co. today

His Mother has been listed many times as "Rachel Bates", but can not be found or proven. Every reference to Rachel Bates found, has been followed and confirmed invalid. Almost every reference, cites another family tree and those sites that list a reputable source, the source does not contain that information. The only "Rachel Bates" and John Mills ever found was from the Boston MA area with both birth dates in the 1740's.
