John Moore was born October 25, 1757, in Beaufort, North Carolina. John served in the military in North Carolina, during the American Revolutionary War. He enlisted in Captain Henderson's and Captain Jeremiah McClain's company, under the command of Colonel Martin, Colonel Armstrong and General Lincoln. John's application for a pension, based on his service in the military is S*W7472.
John's wife of record was Mary Keller. Application for membership in the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been made by the descendants of his daughters, Mary Moore, who married Obediah Light; Sarah Moore, who married Joseph Whorton; and of his sons, Moren Moore, who married Anna Waites; and Daniel Moore, who married Elizabeth Davis.
John Moore passed away on November 16, 1840, in Hall, Georgia.

Started on the Cherokee Expedition, forced to turn back due to the lack of wagons and pack horses. 1777, a Private under Capt. Moses Guest and Col. Benjamin Cleveland (Wilkes County Regiment). 1779, a Private under Capt. John McLane (4th NC Regiment) for six months. Then served in NC Militia under a Capt. White, dates unknown. Born in 1757 in Beaufort (what became Pitt) County, NC. W7472.
