About John M Mosby, Sr
John Mosby in his will, 1718 , refers to an unborn child. Querry: Could this child born after the making of the will, or after its father's death, have been a certain Edward Mosby , of Cumberland Co. (who married Patty , daughter of Thomas Walton ), and is, as yet, unidentified. (See will of Thomas Walton , of Cumberland Co. , 1772 , and deed of Thomas Walton to his daughter, Patty , wife of Edward Mosby , 1758 , this work, Vol. II. pp. 831, 355.)
"Famous descendants were Edward Pleasants Valentine and General John Mosby of the Civil War. Unborn son Edward was referred to in John Mosby's Will. He could have been Edward Mosby of Cumberland Co., VA., who married Patty Walton daughter of Thomas Walton. Ref. Will of Thomas Walton, Cumberland Co. VA., 1772 and deeded to his daughter Patty, wife of Edward Mosby 1758. Cumberland Will's Vol. II pg. 831-855."
