JOHN MURE OF ROWALLAN

John Mure of Rowallan is the son of Robert Mure of Rowallan and his wife Margaret Newton.

Death

According to Sir William Mure of Rowallan's Historie, John Mure of Rowallan: "deceast befor Robert his fayr 1501." Historie, page 74 The editor of the Historie printed a document which corrected this, showing that John Mure of Rowallan died before 7 September 1495. Ibidem, Note D. on pp. 114-15

Marriage

John Mure of Rowallan married "Elizabeth Stewart, daughter to the first Lord Evandale whose mother was daughter to the earle of Crawfurd, called Earle Beardie, she bure vnto him Johne who succeided and Ard. called Meikle Archibald, and daughters The Lady McFarlane, Lady Bawhidder, The gud wife of Clarkland, Monckland, Mureschild & pecockbank."
