John J. Murray, Sr., of Lavallette, NJ, formerly of Spring Valley, NY, died March 27, 2001 at the home of his daughter in Captain Cook, HI.
He was born on June 6, 1908 in Philadelphia, to Daniel and Mary (Faulkner) McElhiney.
His wife Olive C. Murray predeceased him in 1992.
They raised their family in Spring Valley, before moving in 1973 to the Jersey Shore and Florida.
He drove a bus for Rockland Coaches (Red and Tan Lines) for 20 years, and retired from the East Ramapo School District as a Maintenance Man.
He kept himself very active with various hobbies; he also continued to ride his bicycle into his late 80’s.
He is survived by his five children: John (Connie) Murray of Chestnut Ridge, Thomas Murray of Monroe, Jim (Suellen) Murray of Congers, Kathleen (Bill) Davis of Davisburg, Ml, and Joanne Murray of Captain Cook, Hl.
He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, on May 25, at 11 am.
