25 June 1560: Charter by which John Somerville of Cambusnethan confirms that he has given the barony of Cambusnethan to John Somerville, son procreated between him and his wife Katherinam Murray. John junior's charter, which was witnessed by Patrick Murray, son of Patrick Murray of Fallahill, and others, was confirmed under the Great Seal of Scotland on 19 January 1580-81. 28 August 1584: Charter by which James VI, King of Scots, confirms that he has given a feufarm charter for certain land in the lordship of Selkirk to John Murray, eldest son and apparent heir of Patrick Murray of Fallahill. The land in question extended to eighteen husband lands, part of which lay adjacent to the lands of Philophauche, and it had been forfeited by Archibald Douglas, the former Earl of Angus.
