About John Zimmerman Nolt
John Z. Nolt, 95, of New Holland, died Thursday morning at his home. He was a member of the Groffdale Old Order Mennonite Church. Born in West Earl Township, he was the son of the late Eli H. and Lydia Zimmerman Nolt. He was married to the late Elizabeth W. Martin for 56 years. She died November 19, 1998. John was a retired farmer and carpenter. Surviving are five sons: Allen M. husband of Mary Ella Zimmerman Nolt, Clyde, NY; Eli M. husband of Anna Zimmerman Nolt, Ephrata; John Henry husband of Esther Leid Nolt, New Holland; Paul M. husband of Almeda Zimmerman Nolt, New Holland; Edward M. husband of Edna Zimmerman Nolt, Greenwich, OH; five daughters: Laura, wife of Raymond Shirk, Barnett, MO; Lydia, wife of Reuben Shirk, Barnett, MO; Nora, wife of Reuben Zimmerman, Barnett, MO; Anna Mae Nolt, at home; Elizabeth, wife of John Aaron Hoover, Shippensburg. Also surviving are 58 grandchildren and 161 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers: Ivan, Christ, and Eli; and three sisters: Emma Nolt, Mary Huber, and Lydia Nolt; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 9 AM at his late home with further services at 9:30 AM at the Groffdale (Frame) Mennonite Church with Bishop Ammon Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at his late home on Tuesday from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM. Kindly omit flowers. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
