<p>[Philpot1.FTW]</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>It has been recorded that at a vestry meeting of William and Mary Parish in Charles County, MD on June 8, 1752 the pews of the church were designated. Pew No.18 was shared by Charles, John and Benjamin Philpott and two others. In this transaction regarding the assignment of pews they were all designated as "Freeholders". (Vol. 28, p 452 Md. Archives)</p><p><p></p></p><p>His death is recorded as follows: "Recorded Sep ye 2, 1755/6. Before me Thomas Newton, Esq., Mayor of the Borough of Norfolk in Virginia. appeared in The person, John Rice, aged 38 of Princess Ann County, and Ann Rice, his wife, full age, likewise John Dennis, son of said Ann by a former husband, of full age...were sworn...and declared that some time in the winter of 1745 John Philpott came to the house of John and Ann Rice of Princess Ann County ....having a sloop which deponents all understood he brought from his abode in Charles County, Maryland and then lay in Lynhaven Bay...A few days after he came to the House he the sd Philpott, was taken sick and languished...several weeks and Died at the house of John and Ann Rice 2 February 1746 and was by them buried in the Churchyard of Princess Ann...About a fortnight after the decease of John Philpott....his son Benjamin came to Princess Ann and returned with his father's Sloop"
