About John Prinz, Sr.

"Stevens Point Daily Journal" 23 Apr 1926

Lived Nearly Century

John Printz, Sr., believed to have been the third settler in the town of Sharon and who was a continuous resident there for the past 57 years, died at 4:30 this morning, aged 94 years, on the 22nd of next August. His illness was for only two days, caused by a sudden physical collapse due to advanced age. Prior to this week, Mr. Printz was of remarkable physical vitality and until recently made frequent visits to this city.

He was a native of German Poland but left that country in young manhood and came to Canada, remaining there only a few years before becoming a resident of Portage County. Mrs. Printz died 35 years ago.

Members of his family are two sons, John of Sharon and Paul of Schofield, and four daughters, Mrs. August Dahlman, in Poland, Mrs. Anton Smith, of Milwaukee, Mrs. Kate Pipka, of Ashland, and Miss Mary Printz, who lives on the Sharon homestead. There are also 40 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from Sacred Heart Church, Polonia, at 9 o'clock Monday morning, with internment in the parish cemetery.
