John Proulx

John Proulx is # 1285 on the 1907 Wooster Roll where he is identified as the brother of Phileas Proulx # 1193. John's traditional name is recorded as "Wemigonebi" meaning "Feather". The significance of that name requires scrutiny and comment by those with expertise in nuances of the Anishinaabemowin language and Potawatomi culture. In 1907 68 year old John Proulx was living on Manitoulin Island where he held NO rights in Canada.

At the time Sudbury District had not been formatized so Killarney was still part of the District of Algoma.
