1425 November 18. "County: Kent. Place: Westminster. Date: One week from St Martin, 4 Henry VI [18 November 1425]. And afterwards one week from St Hilary in the same year [20 January 1426]. Parties: John Roberd' and Thomas Potyn', querents, and William Frenshe and Alice, his wife, deforciants. Property: 1 messuage and 17 acres of land in Cranebroke. Action: Plea of covenant. Agreement: William and Alice have acknowledged the tenements to be the right of John, as those which John and Thomas have of their gift, and have remised and quitclaimed them from themselves and the heirs of Alice to John and Thomas and the heirs of John for ever. 1459 November 18 "Letters of attorney John Abyrley of Faversham to Richard Watirman and William Baret of Ticehurst to deliver seisin of lands and tenements (60a) called Cokkys, formerly called Partrichisland, by Boarzell Wood in Ticehurst, held of the manor of Pashley, to John Robard of Cranbrook according to a charter." 1460 October 6 "Quitclaim by Joan, widow of William Gyrdele of Ticehurst, to John Roberd of Cranbrook, Her right in 68a called Cokkeslande in Ticehurst (W: land called Passhele; N: land of JR; S: Ticehurst - Boarzell road), in which she was lately enfeoffed by Roger Stephen and John Joce." [8]

To the lights of the parish church of Cranebroke [Cranbrook] 6s. 8d. To each of my godsons 12d. Residue to Agnes my wife and Walter and Stephen my sons, which Agnes with Henry, prior of Cowmwelle, Thomas Hendle and William Clerk I make my executors with John Asshbourneham, John Engeham and John Heansill as supervisors. (Latin) To able xpen people &e John Roberd of Cranebroke [Cranbrook] sendith greting the 20 Janeuer the yere of King Henry the sext 39th. I will that Rauf Bever have certeyn landes callid Bakers to him and his heres to fynde a lampe brennygn by fore the sacrament in the chauncell of Cranebroke [Cranbrook] by day and nyght imperpetuite, the said Rauf to perchase lond to the value of 6s. 8d. yerely to be charged with the said londes to the finding of the said lampe. My feoffees shall deliver to John Roberd the sonne of Stephen Roberd a tenement in Stapilherst callid Kebill of 20 acres and a pece of lond which sum tyme was John Hoppers I purchased of oon John William and Brice, when he comith to the age of 24. Also Thomas Togenesshe to have a mesuage called Lobbys. If the said ordynaunce may not be performid of my goodes then the residue of the profits of my landes to my said sonnes. The shuf of my household to my wife and hir sonnes Water and Stephen. Agnes my wife to have a place Thomas Horden dwellid in alle the terme of her lief which I purchasid of John Newynton. Roberge my servant to have to hir mariage 40s. with that she be rewlid by Agnes my wife. 1460/61 The will of John Roberts was proved on February 7 to "Dom. Son of Stephen Roberts, of Winchet Hill (in Goudhurst), Kent, by his wife Joan Tyllye, daughter and heiress of William Tyllye, esquire, lord of Glassenbury (in Cranbrook). He died testate with a will dated 20 Jan. 1460/61, which was proved Feb. 7, 1460/61, with specific instructions for his burial, the construction of a tomb for himself and Agnes his wife, the maintaining of a chantry in both Cranbrook and Goudhurst churches, specific prayers and masses, and a perpetual lamp to burn day and night forever, before the sacrament. He was a considerable benefactor to the church at Cranbrook, and his effigy was painted in the window of the north aisle, being portrayed kneeling in armor with his helmet, beside a desk with a book upon it.
