John Russ
Also known as John Ross
According to the Everett history, John Russ "grew up in Newbury MA but family moved to Andover MA in 1645; he m. and lived the rest of his life there; owned a grist mill on the Shawsheen River; was a dep. to the Gen. Ct; in 1711 he and his wife were listed as members of the new organized South Church, Andover."
Three of his children, Andrew, John, and Jonathan, moved to Berkeley Co., South Carolina, near Charleston. Jonathan is along the main line this site traces. [5]

Biography
John Russ, son of John and Margaret Russ, was born 24 JUN 1641, in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts.[1]
John Ruse married in Andover, Massachusetts, on 28 Aug 1663 Deborah Osgood[2] (b. 1640, d/o Christopher and Margery (Fowler) Osgood.)[1]
John died about 1715 in Andover, Essex, Massachusetts.[1] It was his father, the immigrant John Russ senior, who died in 1692 [3] John Russ, Sr., died Mar. 4, 1691/2, in Andover, Essex, Massachusetts [4] "Age 80", according to Savage,[5] which gives us the birth date of 1611/12. [6]
John grew up in Andover. His wife's step-father Thomas Rowell, set up mills, which may have influenced John's profession. John owned a gristmill on the Shawsin, near Abbott Village. John was a Representative to the Massachusetts General Court.[1] He and Deborah signed the covenant for the South Church in Andover, on Oct 17, 1711.[7][1]

John Stone 14 Nov.1690.[9] Perhaps moved to Beverly.[1] Sarah Ruse born 3 Feb 1668;[8] died 19 Apr 1745 in Andover;[1] married 26 May 1685 Christopher Lovejoy.[9] John Russe born 5 Apr 1671;[8] died 1 July 1717, St. Thomas Parish, Berkley County, South Carolina;[1] married Hannah Ross 6 May 1695.[9] Moved to South Carolina[1] Margaret Ruse born Apr 10, 1673;[8] died at Killingly, Windham County Connecticut;[1] married (1) 1694 Andover, William (Wry) Peters.[1] William, born 7 Feb 1672, was killed by Indians at Andover on 13 August 1696.[1] Margaret married (2) James Wilson at Thompson, (?Connecticut)[1] Jonathan born 27 Dec 1674;[8] died between will 29 Jan 1726/7 and probate record 17 Feb 1727, in Berkley County, SC.[1] Thomas born 17 June 1677;[8] died 27 Nov 1707 in Andover;[2] married Ann Farnum 17 April 1701[9] Abigail born 2 Feb 1680;[8] married 21 Aug 1701, Andover, John Hazeltine.[9] Phebe, born 20 Apr 1683, Andover;[8] married 15 Oct 1715 Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut, Moses Stockbridge.[1] Josiah born 13 Jan 1684[8] Hezekiah born c 1685; died c 1745, Connecticut; married 10 Apr 1710, Andover Deborah Wilson of Cambridge Farmes.[9] They went to Bellerica and Leicester Massachusetts, before settling in Hebron, Connecticut.[1] Joseph b.
