About John Skibba, Sr

Valentin Skibba (42yrs), Justina Skibba (56yrs) & Johann Skibba (16yrs) arrived in New York aboard the ship "Saint Bernhard" from Bremen on 12 June, 1869.

John Skiba, born on May 16, 1852 died on Dec. 7, 1931

Mr. Skiba died Monday morning at 7:00 A.M. at his home. He was 79 years old.

Funeral services were held at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning at St. Mary's church at Francher Wis. (Rev. S. J. Kubiszewski) officiated at a requiem mass, and also conducted burial services in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers, relatives of Mr. Skiba, were (Frank, Andrew, Joseph)_ John, Lucas, and Roman,_ Zelewski.

Mr. Skiba was the son of Valenty, & the late Justine Skiba. Mr. Skiba married Mary Kallas in Chicago on Jan. 12, 1878, who survives, also by six children, Catherine Okuinewski, John Skiba, Mary Janikowski, Lucy Kallas, Felix Skiba, and Frank Skiba. Mr. Skiba made his home with his son & dayghter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Frank Skiba of the Town of Stockton, Portage Co. Wis.

Funeral services for John Skiba, of Stockton, an early day resident of Portage county, who died at his home Monday, were held at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning at St. Mary's church at Francher. Rev. S. J. Kubiszewski officiated at a requiem mass in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends and also conducted burial services in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers, relatives of Mr. Skiba, were Frank, Andrew, Joseph, John, Lucas, and Roman Zblewski.

A number of persons from Stevens Point attended the funeral. Others from a distance included Felix Skiba, a son, and his family and Mrs. Leo Janikowski, a daughter, and her son of Milwaukee, and another daughter, Mrs. Lucy Kallas, of Calumet City, Ill.
