John Sommers was born about 1825 in Bergern, Saxony & immigrated to the U. S. with his brother Aldo when Aldo was 17 years old. They traveled by sailing vessel to New York & from there to Allentown PA & a few years later to St. Louis MO. Aldo moved to Quincy IL in 1857 & was a druggist. John married Mary Josephine Gleeson & had 1 child. He was a carpenter & fell on 23 December 1864, causing his death.
