Will of John THORNTON.

Lend to my wife Elizabeth THORNTON during her life or widowhood 1/3 of the plantation where I now live; lend to her 3 negroes

  1. Venus,
  2. Lucy,
  3. Jacob.

After her death, these negroes with their increase to go to 2 youngest sons Willie & Burrill.

To wife 1 feather bed and furniture.

To daughter Agga THORNTON 2 negroes

  1. Beck and
  2. Anney and their increase; my riding horse, 1 feather bed and the furniture she calls her own.

To son Joshua THORNTON

  1. 1 negro Ned, 1 feather bed and furniture, 1/2 the land in N.C., and 1/2 the land I have in Georgia.

To son Yancey THORNTON

  1. 1 negro Nat, 1 feather bed and furniture, his choice of my horses, 1/2 the land in N.C. and 1/2 the land I have in Georgia including the part my wife to have the use of during her life and after her death to be equally divided between sons Joshua and Yancey THORNTON.

All the rest of estate to be used to discharge debts and remainder to be divided equally among my wife and children:

  5. Solomon THORNTON,

I JOHN THORNTON of the County of Franklin of State of N. Carolina. I do make and order that my last Will be

I leave to my wife ELIZABETH THORNTON ... and ... of my plantation whereon I now live during her natural life, and I Give to my two youngest sons, Willie and Burwell I give to my daughter Aggie Thornton Item I give to my son Joshua Thornton

Item I give to my son Yancy Thornton and one feather bed and of his choice of all my horses. I also give him the other half of all my lands in the State and in the State of Georgia including the part that my wife is to have the use of for her lifetime and after her death to go to my sons Joshua & Yancy Thornton to be equally divided between them.

It is my will and desire that all the rest of my estate be sold and after all debts being paid, to be equally divided between my WIFE & ALL MY CHILDREN:
