John H. Tolch

Obituary: Teutopolis Press - November 12, 1925

John Tolch of Roslyn, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Tolch, died Saturday night, around 7 o'clock, Nov 7th, 1925 from the effects of an. operation for kidney trouble last May. Mr Tolch's health was on the decline since then.

Funeral services were held at the Roslyn Church, Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 followed by interment of remains made at the Brush Creek cemetery. The funeral rites were largely attended by relatives and friends,

Deceased is survived by his wife, three sons; Charles of Sigel, Cyrus at Roslyn and Noah at home; four daughters: Lydia, Mrs, Lud McGinnis and Emma. (Mrs Louis McGinnis of Neoga,) Ethel, (Mrs. James McKinney of Roslyn) and Edith, (Mrs. Sherman Walliser of Woodbury) ; two brothers: Wm. C. Tolch of Effingham, and S. P. Tolch of Dieterich; five sisters: Mary, Mrs C F Mascher of Clarinda, Iowa,) Nancy, (Mrs. Wm. McCIain of Roslyn, ( Elizabeth,) Mrs. A. W Bigler of Sigel; (Carrie) Mrs. George Eckjan, and (Alice) Mrs. L. A. Fuelle of Teutopolis; sixteen grandchildren, and two venerable aged uncles, Chas. McElhiney of Roslyn and Sam McElhiney of Toledo.

Mr. Tolch was born in Teutopolis, Dec7, 1856 and received his schooling here. At the age of fifteen he operated his father's farm at Roslyn during the summer months and in winter worked at the harness trade in his fathers shop at Teutopolis. After his marriage with Miss Regina Bigler, he operated his own farm at Roslyn and kept same in good order, house and outbuilldings furnished with all the modern improvements.

All above named relatives attended the funeral, with the exception of Mrs. Charles Mascher of Clarlnda, Iowa who is on the sick list.
