OBITUARY OF MRS CAROLINE ECKJAN

Caroline Tolch was born Feb. 23, 1870 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs William Tolch nee Rebecca McElhiney. She spent her entire life in Teutopolis and attended the grade school and when grown womanhood she was united in marriage on Sept. 29, 1896 to Henry Thoele in St. Francis Catholic Church in Teutopolis, who preceded her in death on March 11, 1900.

To this union two children were born, namely; Charles and Clara, now Mrs. Louis Willenborg.

Four years after the death of Mr. Thoele, she was united in marriage at St. Francis Catholic Church in Teutopolis to George Eckjan on April 19, 1904. To this union one child: Estelle was born

Mrs. Eckjan had been in failing health during the past few years. Her age at the time of her death which occurred about 5:15 P.M. Wednesday, April 10, 1946, was 76 years, 1 month and 15 days. She was a faithful wife and mother, a pleasant neighbor and kind friend throughout her life. She was affiliated with the St. Ann's Sodality of St. Francis parish.

The deceased is survived by her husband: George Eckjan; one son: Charles Thoele of Teutopolis; two daughters: Mrs. Louis (Clara Thoele) Willenborg of Detroit, Mich.; and Mrs. Barey (Estelle Eckjan) Gill of Teutopolis; eleven grandchildren; two rothers: Sam and William Tolch of Effingham; three sisters: Mrs. Alice Fuelle of Teutopolis; Mrs. Elizabeth Bigler of Neoga; and Mrs Mary Mascher of Shenandoah, Iowa; besides a host of other relatives and friends.
