John Valentine GORMAN was born in 1820. (son of Owen GORMAN and Margaret FLANAGAN
John arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/2/1839 with his parents and siblings.
John married Isabella JOHNSTON on July 2, 1841 in Sydney and they had the following children:
- Frederick Gorman;
- John Gorman;
- Isabella Gorman;
- Alice Gorman;
- William Gorman;
- Ada Gorman;
- Gertrude Gorman.
John died on December 13, 1867 in Woollahra, New South Wales, Australia.
John Gorman was elected chairman of Woollahra Council in 1863. He remained a councillor up to his death; the last meeting he attended was on 8 October 1867. While on council he had served on the finance, improvement, building, water and by-law committees:
