REVOLUTIONARY PATRIOTS OF CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND, p. 318: WATHEN, John Baptist (1740-1810). "John WATHEN" was a sergeant in the militia, 12th Battalion, Capt. John HANSON's company, 1777 [Ref: M-158]. "John WATHEN" was born circa 1740, married Henrietta ____ and migrated to Kentucky where he died on Dec. 12, 1810 [Ref: J-III:3116]. "John B. WATHEN" took to Oath of Allegiance in 1778 [Ref: AA-641]. "John B. WATHEN" was a resident of Newport West Hundred in 1778 [Ref: Q-I:297]. "John Baptist WATHEN" was born in 1740, a son of Ignatius WATHEN and Susannah HAWKINS, and married circa 1761 to Henrietta RINEY, daughter of Thomas RINEY. John migrated to Kentucky and bought land on Cartwright's Creek in Washington County in 1799 [Ref: Information compiled in 1997 by Carolyn Huebner Collins of South Bend, Indiana].
