John was the ninth of ten children of his parents Franklin Weaver and Eliza Ellis. He worked for 20 years for the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Rail Way Company (Katy) and was listed on his death certificate as a "Bridge Builder". He was a Methodist and a member of the Odd Fellows for over 48 years.
He first married Elizabeth "Lizzi" Rau, a Presbyterian, on October 3rd, 1873 in Dora, Indiana . Their first child William was born in 1874 in LaGro, Wabash Co., Indiana. The family then relocated to Texas about 1880 where their daughter Lula May was born in Denison on August 3rd, 1881. Lizzi died in November 1881 and John returned with his family to Indiana.
John married a second time to Ida Jane Kelly on Feb. 8th, 1883 in LaGro, Wabash County, Indiana. They had 4 girls and 2 boys. He then returned again to Denison, Texas with his family in 1889 via the train. The Weaver children attended Washington School which was the first free public school in Texas.
Ida died of pneumonia in 1896 just one year after the birth of their last daughter Anna. John died in 1915 and he was laid to rest close to both Lizzi and Ida .
