The following source says that a Sarah Sherwood married John Wheeler in 1662. This is Sarah Sherwood, daughter of Thomas Sherwood, of Stratford.

JOHN WHEELER son of Thomas and Joan Bryan Wheeler Bapt at Milford Conn Aug 16 1640 died May 12 1704 at Woodbury Conn Married 1 Dec 16 1662 Sarah Sherwood who died March 12 1704 dau of Thomas Sherwood He was a signer of the fundamental articles organizing the Town of Woodbury Conn Cothren claims that he died Dec 3 1716 aged 81 and that he had a second marriage to Ruth He also claims that the marriage to Sarah Sherwood was Nov 5 1662 He states that the first 5 children were by the 1st marriage and that the last 3 were by the 2d marriage

This may be date of baptism. Both John and his brother Samuel bear the same date of "birth", so unless they are twins this is likely a baptism date. Some sources say John was born in 1635 or 1636 and Samuel born in 1638. Perhaps the late baptismal records are due to emigration from England to America, specifically Milford, CT. |
