About John Whelden
Gabriel Whelden (c1583-1654) had children baptized at St Leodegarius Church, Basford:
11. John Whelden (bapt.4 Oct 1630-20 Nov 1707) married about 1652 Mary Falland (c.1630 - between 1711 and 1721), daughter of Thomas Falland, Sr. (d.1687), and lived at Yarmouth. Children
(No birth/baptism records found; but named in various wills of their mother's siblings)
Joseph, b. ca. 1654. Elizabeth, b. ca. 1656, living 23 Nov. 1721. She is called "my cusen Elizabeth Whelden, daughter of my sister Mary" in the will of her aunt Elizabeth (Folland) (Hall) Jones, 20 May 1711, and "my cousin Elizabeth Whelden" in the will of her uncle, Thomas Folland. She probably d.s.p., no death or probate found. Jonathan, b. ca 1658. Thomas, b. ca. 1660.[3] Some online trees (including this one) claim without sources that there was an additional child, John C. Wheldon who removed to South Carolina and then back to Salem, Massachusetts. No such child John is named in any of the Holland wills that otherwise name all children of John and Mary (Folland) Whelden. See Mclean (1972), p 7.
