He was appointed Government Professor of Chemistry and Agricultural Science,Barbados,West Indies 1890 Consulting Chemist to the Imperial Department of Agriculture ,West Indies 1899 A fellow of the Institute of Chemistry in 1893 and the Chemical Society of London. He served as Director of the Government Department of Science and Agriculture,Barbados from 1923-1928 He married Beatrice Alice Longley at St John's Church,Hackney London on 17 January 1891 and the couple raised a son,Nino, and a daughter Marie..both born in Bridgetown Barbados.
