About John Pedroso D´Albuquerque

A Scholarship boy all the way through his school days.5 years at the City of London School. A double first at St John's Cambridge University. Professor of Chemistry at Barbados; appointed 1893 by the Governor of Barbados to be a member of a commission to report on the best means of destroying the bearer or any other pest affecting sugar cane. He was appointed Government Professor of Chemistry and Agricultural Science,Barbados,West Indies 1890 Consulting Chemist to the Imperial Department of Agriculture ,West Indies 1899 A fellow of the Institute of Chemistry in 1893 and the Chemical Society of London. He served as Director of the Government Department of Science and Agriculture,Barbados from 1923-1928 He married Beatrice Alice Longley at St John's Church,Hackney London on 17 January 1891 and the couple raised a son,Nino, and a daughter Marie..both born in Bridgetown Barbados.
