About Jonathan Buck
with brother Enoch & others moved family to New Milford in 1717. owned land on Aspetuck Hill. Built home on Poplar St. Joined first New Milford Church in 1718. Was farmer but involved in politics
"Samuel Buck wrote that Jonathan Buck joined the first New Milford Church in 1718 and his wife 3 years later. He was a farmer active in public matters holding town offices and contributing to town improvements. He evidently was prominent in making the "North Purchase" to enlarge the township and advancement of settlement and assisting to build the "School House" (p. 51).
"Harvey only listed one wife Mary Andrews and had all the children by her. If she died in 1713 the other children had to be by his second wife which I have listed as Mary Orcutt (source for her unknown). Research on her possible Orcutt line needs to be initiated.
"Jonathan, along with his son Ebenezer, was one of the "North Purchase" proprietors, a tract of land added in 1722 to the New Milford grant, Connecticut, making it the largest township in Connecticut.
