  • F10 Deacon William Locke, b. Hampton, Apl. 17, 1677, m. Nov. 23, 1699. Hannah Knowles of Kingston, dau. of John and Jemima (Austin). She b. Hampton, Apl. 18, 1678, d. in Rye, Sept. 12, 1769, aged 91. He was on various petitions 1717-21-26; was a selectman in 1726, and called Lieut. William; was a moderator in 1743. He bought land on the way from Sandy Beach to Greenland, 1723-4, and gave it to his son Jonathan in 1728. In 1723 he bought land at Portsmouth Plains. William, a shopkeeper of Portsmouth, bought land on northwest side of the road from "Ye Bank to Greenland." June 30, 1728, he bought land in Rye called "Ye Island of ye Pond once called Locke's Hole." He sold land in Rye in 1751, and died there Jan. 22, 1768, aged 91.

  • F46 Jonathan Locke, b. in Rye March 15, 1702, m. in Portsmouth, by Rev. Wm. Allen, March 2, 1727, Sarah Haines, dau. of William and Mary (Lewis) of Greenland. She was b. Oct. 18, 1705, d. Oct. 1753. He bought 31 acres of land on the Sandy Beach Road in Rye 1723-4 and in 1735 bought 34 acres of land in New Castle (Part of Andrew Pepperell's land). In 1739 he sold land on the Greenland Road, again sold land in Chester 1758. In 1767 he gave son David 35 acres of land in Rye provided he support his sister Sarah until her marriage. He gave common land to son Jonathan in 1771. He lived in Rye and was a Representative to the General Assembly. At General Assembly Jan. 1744 he with two others were appointed a committee "to go to James Jeffreys, late Clerk of the Assembly and demand and bring back the books and files belonging to this house." He lived where Deacon Jonathan Locke now resides at Rye Centre, and died there Jan. 2, 1774. His wife and five children died of throat distemper in 1753.
