About Jonathan Potts
In choosing a site for a home on his farm in Warren County, he found two springs and built a log cabin near one and a barn near the other. Around 1819 he started constructing a large 2 story stone house, using the original log structure as a kitchen. It was completed in 1822 and that date is inscribed in a stone over the front door. The home was later written about in "An Album of Early Warren County Kentucky Landmarks," by Irene Moss Sumter 1976. the author says that "This is the only stone house we have found in the county". The house remained in the Potts family until 1942 when it was sold after being in the family 130 years. In 1949 it was moved by a new buyer into Bowling Green, Ky and rebuilt at 54 Highland Dr.
