"Jonas married Ida Maria Petrelius, in Finland , in 1898. They immigrated to USA in 1902. He worked as a copper miner.He was in this country for four years when he died of double pneumonia. He left behind a wife and four children, the youngest being 1 yr. old., the oldest being 6 yrs. old."

Joona (Jonas) Palosaari, born 1875, from Kuusamo parish got passport no.398 for America on 5 Apr 1902. He immigrated with his wife Ida Maria Petrelius and two children, Martta (b.1899) and Viktor (b.1901). They departed from Hanko aboard SS Arcturus of the Finland Steamship Company on 12 Apr 1902. Atlantic crossing on an Allan Line steamer. Price of the ticket 33 dollars. Destination Calumet, Michigan.
