Josef Elias Cleve-Gomperz († 28. Juni 1689 in Kleve) heiratete Sara Mirjam Bendit (* 6. Dezember 1636 in Jülich; † 20. November 1691 in Kleve). Er hatte sich besonders als geschäftlicher Vertrauensmann (Hoffaktor) des Großen Kurfürsten und der kurbrandenburgischen Regierung in Cleve, aber auch als Vorsteher und Wohltäter der Judenschaft der Grafschaft Cleve berühmt gemacht. Die Abschaffung des Leibzolls in der Grafschaft Cleve war ihm zu verdanken[7]. Aus der Cleve-Gomperz-Linie ging Stammvater Chaim Cleve († 28. September 1704) hervor, er gründete die Hamburger Gomperz Familienlinie, welche auch in Altona ansässig war. see also chart Lion Gomperz.
Josef Elias Cleve-Gomperz († June 28, 1689 in Kleve) married Sara Mirjam Bendit (* December 6, 1636 in Jülich; † November 20, 1691 in Kleve). He had made himself famous as the business confidante (court factor) of the Great Elector and the Brandenburg government in Cleve, but also as the head of the Jews in the county of Cleve. The abolition of the body duty in the county of Cleve was thanks to him [7]. The progenitor Chaim Cleve († September 28, 1704) emerged from the Cleve-Gomperz line and founded the Hamburg Gomperz family line, which was also based in Altona.
