Joseph Allen, of Deerfield

Joseph Allen b. in Deerfield, Mass., Oct. 14, 1708; m. in Woodbury, Ct., March 11, 1736-37, Mary Baker, dau. of John Baker. He d. in Cornwall, Ct., April 4, 1755.

They had, among other children: Their children:

1. Gen. Ethan Allen of Revolutionary fame, b. in Litchfield (?), Ct., Jan. 10, 1737; m. first, in Woodbury, Ct., by Rev. Daniel Brinsmade, of (Judea Parish) Woodbury, Ct., June 23, 1762, Mary Bronson, dau. of Richard Bronson. She d. in Sunderland, Vt., 1783; buried in Arlington, Vt. He m. second, in Westminster, Vt., Feb. 9, 1784, Mrs. Frances Buchanan. She was b. April 4, 1760. He d, in Burlington, Vt., Feb. 12, 1789. He had five children by first wife and three by second. Gen. Allen paid Rev, Mr. Brinsinade four shillings as a marriage fee
2. Heman Allen born 15 Oct 1740, Cornwall, Connecticut,[7] married Abigail Beebe, born 1753, died 1837. Heman died 18 May 1778, Revolutionary War, buried: Green Mountain Cemetery, Burlington, Vermont.
3. Lydia Allen born 6 Apr 1742, Cornwall, Connecticut,[7] married John Finch. Lydia died 1770, Goshen, Connecticut.
4. Heber, 2nd, Allen born April 4, 1743 at Cornwall Connecticut,[7]; married on March 17, 1768, Sarah Owen who was born July 18, 1748 and died in 1787 at Colchester, Vermont,and was buried in the Green Mountain Cemetery, at Burlington, Vermont. Heber died April 10, 1782 at Poultney, Vermont and buried in the Old Cemetery, East Poultney, Vermont.[8]
5. Levi Allen born 16 Jan 1745, Cornwall, Connecticut,[7] married (1) Anna (Nancy) Allen, married (2) Nancy ?. Levi died Jan 1801, Debtor's Prison, Burlington, Vremont, buried: Elmwood Avenue Cemetery, Burlinton, Vermont.
6. Lucy Allen born 2 Apr 1747, Cornwall, Connecticut,[7] married Lewis Beebe, born 1749, of Salisbury, Litchfield, CT, died 1816.
7. Zimri Allen born 10 Dec 1748, Cornwall, Connecticut,[7] died 1776.
8. Ira Allen born 1 May 1751, Cornwall, Connecticut, (born 21 Apr 1751[7] married 1890/91, Jerusha Hayden Enos Jr., born 1764, (daughter of Roger Enos and Unknown) died 1838. Ira died 07 Jan 1814, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
