About Joseph Bixbie, Jr.

Joseph was the eldest son. In the autumn of 1675 he lived in Rowley. He was impressed with 11 other Rowley men under Captain Brocklebach to serve in the Indian Wars. Boxford town records page 5 dated March 1687 state a Joseph Bixby [he or his father] served on a commitee to set the bounds between the Village of Rowley and the town of Rowley [Boxford]. Same records page 24 sometime in the 1690's state that Mr. Joseph Bixby constable of Boxford brought the tax receipts received from the treasurer to the town meeting. Page 28 states the town chose Corporal Joseph Bixby as town treasurer for year coming (1697). Page 30 A town committee voted to pay Josephy Bixby 16 shillings to reimburse him for a rate he paid while constable. Page 32 Corporal Joseph Bixby was chosen one of the selectman and assessors for 1697.
