"The son of Samuel and Mary Buck Bixby, he was born in Chelmsford in 1741. In 1758 he was apprenticed to Joseph Wilder, of Lancaster, and later saw service in the French and Indian War. He is described as being 5’7” tall, and light complected. Joseph Bixby, married Lydia Walker in 1767, then Miriam Bryant in 1769, and third Elizabeth Hadley in 1784. He was a farmer by trade, and at the time of the Alarm he lived in what is now West Boylston."[Per "Boylston Historical Series]

"In about 1785, he moved to Vermont, and in 1787 he was listed as a resident of Grafton, Vermont, but in 1790 as an inhabitant of Rindge, New Hampshire. Joxeph Bixby died in Rindge after 1810, and is reputedly buried in Boylston's Old Burial Ground". [Per "Boylston Historical Series]
