REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERAN:
Joseph Gorton was a Private during the revolution, and served in Captain Squire Millard's company, Col. Waterman's Regiment Rhode Island Militia. Served from Nov.1, 1776 - Jan. 9, 1777. (Ref. "Year Book of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York" 1909.
