Joseph Hair was born in 1855 in the Cherokee Nation. He was the son of Jefferson Hair and a Cherokee woman named "Polly" or "Wahle." He married Annie Money, also Cherokee, about 1879. They were the parents of one child, a son David. Annie died not long after David was born and Joseph married her sister Nellie about 1882. They were the parents of eight children, Julia (died young), Jack, [1] Lizzie, Oce (died in infancy), George, Charlotte, Nicholas, and Jefferson. [2]
Joseph and his family were enrolled by the Dawes Commission [3] He died April 9, 1901 and is buried at the Euwasha Cemetery, Delaware County, Oklahoma. [4]
