Some information is available in relation to Joseph Holdcroft in the RC records in Knockbridge:
1. Joesph was born in 1858. On page 26 of the Knockbridge baptismal register, Joseph's baptism is recorded - with witnesses: Bernard Matthews and Mary Kieran.
2. The marriage of Joseph and Annie (Murphy) is recorded in the Knockbridge records as taking place on 25/11/1897 with Annie noted as being from Ballinclare (with the witnesses being Lawrence Keenan and (unknown) Callan).
3. On February 14th 1886, Joseph (along with Mary Maginn) was a witness to the baptism of Thomas Casey (son of Henry and Mary (Rafferty)).
Also, my father, Paddy Clarke, recalls that "uncle Joe's" cottage was in Knockbridge. It also seems that this is where my great grandmother, Minnie Holdcroft (Matthews), may have lived for her final years.
The sponsors at Joseph's baptism were: Bernard Mathews and Mary Kieran
