About Capt. Joseph Hull, Jr.
Capt. Joseph, born in 1694 at Derby; married ist, Bertha - ; married 2nd, Sarah Bennettf~daughter of Dea. Daniel Bennett, who gave a breakfast to Gen'l La Fayette and his officers, while en route from Rhode Island, to join Washington at the Highlands. Joseph died in 1778. Sarah died in 1792. He was a representative to the General Assembly.

Head Stone ( broken ): From page 809 of "The History of the Old Town of Derby, Connecticut" by Samuel Orcutt, published in 1880: Sacred to the Memory of Capt. Joseph Hull who departed this life June ye 12 A D 1778 AE 85. He left an aged widow to mourn ye loss of a most kind and tender husband, deeply afflicted children and other relatives to drink in silence the bitter cup of sorrow for the loss of a pious & benevolent parent. By his death the poor were deprived of a most cordial & liberal benefactor; his Neighbours & Friends a wise discreet amiable and exemplary Christian. He lived universally beloved & is now gone to receive a crown of immortal glory.
