Joseph Nash was born in South Hadley, Hampshire, MA as were all of his children. The family removed to Rowe, Franklin, MA some time after 1775. Joseph served under Capt. Samuel Smith in his company when they marched on the alarm for the relief of Fort William Henry in August 1757. A private in the company, he marched from South Hadley... south for 114 miles in 8 1/2 days. Muster Ross #10235 shows his name. Rowe, Franklin, MA is a mountainous town adjoining Whitingham in the state of Vermont. The Deerfield River passes its western border. The Rev. Preserved Smith was the first minister here at the Congregational church on Pelham Brook in 1797.
