He was a weaver. He settled in Brookfield on March 8, 1709/10, received a grant of 60 acres in Brookfield on condition of "living there for four years after he is dismissed of "being a soldier." He received other large grants in Brookfield. During the Colonial Wars, he served in Capt. Joseph Kellogg's Company, stationed at Northfield, Massachusetts in 1725.
