Biography

Joseph Sanborn was born Hampton,[1] 13 March 1659, the son of John and Mary (Tuck) Sanborn.[2] Joseph Sanborn died sometime after 15 June 1722, the date on which he executed a deed of gift to his to his son, Joseph Samborn.[3]

Joseph Sanborn married Hampton, 28 December 1682, to Mary Gove.[4] She was born Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire, 14 2 mo. [16]66 (14 April 1666)[5]

Mary (Gove) Sanborn married again, after 26 November 1727 [date of intention at Amesbury, Massachusetts], Lt. Moses Morrill,[7] but she is reported to have separated from Morrill, returning to reside on the family homestead at Hampton Falls.[8]

Joseph Sanborn, son of Lieutenant John Sanborn (i), was born in Hampton, New Hampshire, March 13, 1659. He lived in Hampton Falls, on the farm now owned by his descendant, Miss Sarah Sanborn. He married, December 28, 1682, Mary Gove, daughter of Edward, of Hampton; he died between 1722 and 1724. His widow married Morrill, of Salisbury, but separated and returned to live on the homestead at Hampton Falls. He was a shoemaker or cordwainer by trade. He bought twenty-five acres of land in the northwest part of Hampton of John Gove, December 8, 1692. He deeded his homestead in the south parish of Hampton to his son Joseph Jr., June 15, 1722, and also other property. He deeded real estate to his son, Abraham, June 13, 1722; to son David his rights in Chester, New Hampshire; to son Reuben a tract in Hampton, called a double portion, because he was eldest son; to son Edward a generous tract. Children: I. Abigail, born April 1, 1686; married, October 7, 1703, Ebenezer Dearborn, of Chester, son of Deacon Thomas, of Hampton. 2. Huldah, born May 3, 1688; married. October 17, 1705, Jonathan Nason, of Hampton Falls; died October 7, 1758. 3. Reuben, born May 18, 1692. 4. Edward, born April 7, 1695. 5. Abraham, born March 10, 1696. 6.
