About Joseph Stein
Just before the deportation, he lived at Haštalská 1072/6110 00 Staré Město, Prague, Czechia, He was deported to the Lodz ghetto on 31 October 1941 in Transport D, #52 (see the Arolsen Archives https://collections.arolsen-archives.org/G/SIMS/01014202/0137/13268...). After two years in the Lodz ghetto, he was transferred to the Auschwitz concentration camp with his sister Vera and his mother Irma. Towards the end of the war, he was transferred to the Oranienburg camp, then to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp (17 November 1944), then he was trucked to Dachau. From there, they were marched to a satellite camp called Kaufering in Bavaria, then to Landsberg. Later, they were marched again to Dachau (https://collections.arolsen-archives.org/G/SIMS/01010602/0126/55981...). Eventually, he was freed by the Americans in May 1945.
After the war, he got married in Czechia, and moved to Israel. He had two children.
