About Joseph Surawski

GEDCOM Note

The original spelling of the name is ZURASWKI with a small o over the Z, and in the Hamburg departure lists the family is noted as ZURANSKI. In 1856, or at least after Marianna was born, the SURAWSKI family moved from the town where they had lived for three generations and the rest of the children after Joseph are said to have been born in a place called KLODON or KLODEN West Prussia. Until this day, no town of this name has been found in records, although there are similar surrounding towns in the area around Danzig. However, there is no record of the name SURAWSKI in the church records around Danzig.

The township of Muehlbanz where Josepp and Marianna were born is now called Milobadz, Poland.
