Joseph E. Thagard, 82, a resident of the Quail Run Estates in Agawam, died on Tuesday May 4, 2010. He was born in Springfield on December 31, 1927 a son of the late Robert M. and Mary (Fitzgerald) Thagard and brother of the late Robert, William and Gerald Thagard.
He served his country in the United States Army and received the World War II Victory Medal. He graduated from Springfield College and was employed by the U.S. Postal Office in Springfield. He is survived by a brother, Alfred D. Thagard and his wife Jean; his nephews, Robert, James and Scott; his niece, Susan Henry; and seven great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Monday May 10, 2010 at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker Street in Indian Orchard with Rites of Committal and United States Army Military Honors to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State Street in Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Resident Enrichment Program at Quail Run Estates, 50 Cardinal Drive, Agawam, MA 01101.
