1793. Joseph Totten probable son of Jasper and grandson of Richard Totten
died a resident of Orange Co., NY between April 16, 1800 and May 5, in the
same year (Source: The Totten Line) Joseph is mentioned in Jasper's will,
probated December 14, 1761 (Source: Wills, New Jersey Archives, Vol. IV,
Abstract of Wills) Possibly the same Joseph Totten who owned lots of land
in the Adirondack Mountains. His lands were confiscated in 1779-1781.
Married ca. 1760 to Mary POPPINO born ca. 1728 at Warwick Township, Orange
Co., NY. Mary was a daughter of John Poppino, born ca. 1704 in France and
who died in 1785 in New York, and Christian Mary Poppino, also born in
France. Mary was a sister of Major John Poppino, a Revolutionary PATRIOT,
married to Elizabeth Wood.
Joseph Totten, tailor, of Orange County, NY, in his will dated
April 16, 1800, probated May 5, 1800, mentioned as heirs, his sons John,
Joseph, Peter, Silas and Levi and his daughter Abigail CURRY ( note: this
may be the relationship of the Curry Bros. Mill, with a Totten) Other
heirs named without mention of relationship were, Mary MILLER, Christian
and Phebe JACKSON and Lydia CLARK. As executioners, he named his sons
Joseph, Peter, and Silas. No wife is mentioned in the Will. Joseph was
