Anderson16 argues that the claim that Joseph’s wife was an Abigail Waite has no basis: “No contemporary record of a wife named Abigail has been found, and there was no Waite family in Duxbury or vicinity from which Abigail could have come. According to his will Joseph had six children, three sons (Elisha, Joseph and Samuel) and three daughters (unnamed). Elisha married in 1694 and Samuel about 1700, indicating births in the early 1670s, and so no need for a marriage as early as 1655. Since Elisha named a son Wait, and this name was carried down in the family, some later historian of the family may have thought this indicated the surname of Elisha's mother, rather than a popular Puritan virture.”

Joseph Wadsworth was born in 1636 at Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony. Joseph was the son of Christopher Wadsworth and Grace Cole.

Proceed with much caution as hardly anything about this profile is nailed down with vital records. You might even notice Find A Grave says " he is probably buried here? " FAG also does not do real good at making it clear that the mother is only a Wadsworth by marriage, she is actually 'Grace Unknown'.

STATEMENT 1: Joseph was born about 1634.[1] Joseph is the child of Christopher Wadsworth and Grace Cole. His widow, according to his will of March 22, 1689[/90] was Mary. Robert Charles Anderson states that this family: "needs careful examination. All secondary sources state that he had first wife Abigail Waite, whom he married about 1655. No contemporary record of a wife name Abigail has been found, and there was no Waite family in Duxbury or vicinity...."[2]

STATEMENT 2: Acknowledging Statement 1 : Adding 7 Jan 2017. Help Needed: Major mix up on child order as well as number of actual children: Children 6 each; Elisha, Samuel, Joseph, Mehitable, Ruth and Bethia: In that order.

The second issue is to get proper ( or approximate) dates to align properly to support the correct child order. Vital Records seen, so far, are lacking dates. Without changing dates, I feel the first step is to reduce the extra duplicate files ONLY …..till more joint research gets the dates to agree with child order.
