Joseph Williams of Anne Arundel

Joseph Williams born abt 1657 London, England married abt 1680 to Mary Robinson, daughter of Sir John Robinson, 1st Baronet of London and Lady Elizabeth Potter.

Named in will dated 24 Sep 1692 are their three sons James, Joseph and Richard, daughter Mary, also names "Benjamin son of Benjamin" and wife Edith.

Joseph's 2nd wife Edith Cromwell is descended from Morgan Williams and Catherine Cromwell.

I believe that Joseph Williams was the son of James Williams baptised 22 JAN 1622 All Hallows Barking, London, England married Annys Treganhorne. James Williams was the son of Sydrach Williams married Anne Pinner or Tiler October 10, 1621 St. Gabriel Fen Church, London.

Sydrach Williams was the son of James Williams b. 1562 and Alice Pemberton

James Williams b. 1562 was son of Mark Williams and Agnes Audley. Date of burial: November 19, 1620. He is the Father of Roger Williams: champion of religious freedom in America. Founder of the first Baptist church in America. Founder of Rhode Island.

His will, proven 19 November 1621, left, in addition to bequests to his "loving wife, Alice," to his sons, Sydrach, Roger and Robert, and to his daughter Catherine, money and bread to the poor in various sections of London

Father of Mark Williams b. 1540 was James Williams b. 1517 son of Walter Williams b. 1497. And Walter Williams was son of Morgan Williams b. 1470 and Katherine Cromwell b. 1477.
